Internships

We offer advanced internships for students, professionals in extended vocational training or for a sabbatical. In cooperation with your supervisor, we will elaborate a realistic internship schedule and support you in the search for external funding. The minimal duration for an internship is six weeks and consists of a theoretical part, practical data collection in the field and a final report. Depending on the duration of the internship and the regulations of your university, you can earn up to 30 credit points for such an internship. Our staff speaks English, French and German.

The Mériscope Marine Research Station operates from mid-June to the end of October in any given year. If you are interested in an advanced internship, please contact us by email and including your CV before the end of February of the respective year.

Our approved rigid-hulled inflatable boats are the only scientific excursion boats in the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park. We are operating under permits issued by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and Parks Canada and our biopsy protocol is approved by the Canadian Council on Animal Care. We are a member of the Quebec Marine Mammal Emergency Response Network and the Quebec Centre for Research in Ecotoxicology as well as the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (Quebec). The Mériscope is a registered charity in Canada.

Since internship places are limited, we strongly recommend that you contact us as soon as possible.
